Herbal Teas

Herbal teas also commonly referred to as Tisanes in some part of the World, are beverages made from the infusion or decoction of herbs, spices, or other plant material in hot water. They do not usually contain caffeine. Herbal teas should not be confused with true teas (e.g., black, green, white, yellow, oolong), which are prepared from the cured leaves of the tea plant, Camellia sinensis), nor with decaffeinated tea, in which the caffeine has been removed. Like beverages made from true teas, herbal teas can be served hot or cold.

Herbal teas have enjoyed a popularity in East Asia tea houses for hundreds of years, before finding its way to Europe and other part of the World.  In one part of West Asia for instance, and China in particular, the traditional Chinese medicine approach is used in formulating natural herbal teas and they are very popular in enhancing health and addressing all sorts of issues within the body.

Other tribes in certain parts of Asia as well have had a long history using herbal teas within the local traditional medicine, where different types of plant species were used to make herbal teas, which are used to treat a wide variety of ailments such as colds and fever.
